MATT HITZHUSEN
​Born and raised in Worcester, MA, Matt Hitzhusen is a certified personal trainer and strength coach, and has been working in the fitness industry since 2005. He holds more than two dozen certifications, including certificates in Exercise Nutrition (PN1 and PN2), as a Speed and Agility Specialist (CSAS), as a High School Strength & Conditioning Coach (HSSCS), as a Youth Fitness Specialist (YFS-1), and as a Pain-Free Performance Specialist (PPSC). He is also certified in Advanced Program Design, Functional Movement Systems (FMS-1) and Corrective Exercise (FMS-2), and as an Olympic Weightlifting Coach. An accomplished athlete and youth coach, Matt has been active in sports and fitness since an early age and has maintained this passion throughout his life.

In 2001, after graduating from Trinity College (CT) with a B.A. in History and Italian Studies, Matt enrolled with Literacy AmeriCorps, teaching Adult Basic Education and GED-prep in Southeast Florida to learning disabled and behaviorally-challenged students. After completing his commitment with AmeriCorps, Matt attended and graduated from the University of Arizona College of Law, where served as Managing Editor of the Arizona Journal of International & Comparative Law, and published an article on medical malpractice reform. After passing the Arizona Bar Exam, Matt decided to change career paths and follow his passion for fitness by entering the field as a personal trainer.

Matt has owned and operated The HITZ, LLC since 2007. In 2012, he opened HITZ FITNESS - a 5,000 square foot facility equipped for any and all fitness goals. Through his training, Matt seeks to motivate and educate his clients, challenging them with an ever-evolving repertoire of training techniques and cutting-edge fitness equipment. Matt’s clients range from teens to the elderly, and include beginners, advanced trainers, and competitive athletes. However, the common ground they all share is that every client receives thoughtful training and guidance, specifically tailored to his/her fitness-related goals. Whether these goals are functional, aesthetic, or sports-performance related, Matt prides himself in actively working with his clients to help them achieve their maximum physical potential.
